If you need to employ new staff but are worried about the associated costs in this current economic climate, a traineeship program could be the right choice for your business.
Traineeship programs provide a great opportunity for new staff to earn a nationally recognised qualification along with on the job training. For employers, bringing in new staff under a traineeship program can also have numerous benefits.
Here’s how staff will benefit starting their employment in a traineeship program:
They can get a nationally recognised qualification!
Complete the training to learn valuable skills that can take you far in your industry of interest and you can earn a qualification that’s acknowledged Australia-wide!
You may be eligible to apply for the NSW Fee-Free traineeship incentive if:
- you live or work in NSW
- are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Permanent resident
- 15 years and older and no longer in school
- are within the first 3 months of employment with your current employer
Approved applicants will receive fully subsidised training by the NSW Government through a registered training organisation (RTO).
Earn while they learn
Further to your fee-free training, you’ll be able to earn a wage, whether that be full or part time! Trainees will also have access to student concessions for various products and services like travel, entertainment, etc.
As an employer, here’s why bringing in new staff under a traineeship program will benefit you:
Remove barrier of access to role
Interviewed a candidate who was promising but just not qualified? You no longer have to discard these candidates. With a traineeship program new staff can learn the necessary skills and apply these lessons in their day to day work. This will help keep staff motivated and helps instil the values and culture of your business.
Flexible delivery of training with the Registered Training Organisation of your choice!
Work with the RTO to develop a training schedule and cater the learning material to best suit your business’s needs!
Government incentive for employers
Not only will the government provide your trainee with fee-free training*, but for eligible students, businesses can receive incentives from the federal government when a staff member completes a traineeship program.
Payroll tax rebates are also available to employers in NSW who employ apprentices and new entrant trainees.
